Artist Opportunities
Albany Center Gallery offers artist opportunities for ACG Members as well as non-members. Opportunities for artists to showcase their work arise throughout the year, for community events like Art on Lark or pop-up exhibits at local businesses. We annually host a Member's Show in December/January, and sometimes offer a Member & Friend exhibition. We also have calls for Artist Mentors for programs and calls for Muralists for the #CapitalWalls public art project.
Click here to visit our Artist Opportunities page.
ACG's Annual Call for Art is a specific call to invite artists to submit their work for consideration in curated exhibitions in the ACG gallery space. The Annual Call submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis for consideration for the next exhibition cycle and beyond.
ACG accepts artwork submissions through an online submission portal called Submittable. A free account is required to submit. All current calls for art through ACG are listed on the Submittable site.
Interns and Volunteers
If you are interested in contemporary art and have a passion for the regional art community, or are interested in non-profit management, Albany Center Gallery is a great fit for you! Albany Center Gallery offers internship opportunities for college students and welcomes volunteers of any age. Individuals will experience what it’s like to work in a local, not-for-profit arts organization.
ACG has a variety of volunteer opportunities based on your interests, expertise, and gallery needs. The monthly time commitment is flexible depending on how much time you'd like to commit and can be anywhere from 5 to 50 hours per month.
Here are a few of the ways you can get involved as a Volunteer:
- Come to the gallery once or twice a week to help with day-to-day administrative tasks (filing, organizing, and gallery maintenance)
-Join as a semester long "Gallery Intern" dedicating 5-10 hours a week!
- Support ACG staff at Artists' Receptions and pop-up exhibits (talking with visitors, maintaining refreshments, overseeing membership table, etc.)
- Be an event photographer for receptions & pop-up exhibits
- Offer insight into business, finance, technology, grants, or fundraising
- Be an ACG Ambassador (talking with the public about ACG and what we offer, encouraging people to join as members, or suggesting the opportunity to become a sponsor and support the arts)
- Apply to join a committee (Committees: Gala, Marketing/Public Relations, Exhibits, Development/Membership)

What do ACG's Members have to say?
Let's read below:
"For me, getting involved during the COVID-19 pandemic ..[and] watching so many people come out to present their artwork in and attend exhibits like the Members' Show and the Photo Regional showed me how much organizations like ACG can help people come together to heal and persevere during such devastating times like we're experiencing now." - Dana Whitcher, volunteer & PR intern
"They were there for me when I was just starting out with my photography- to give me opportunities to show my art through Member's Shows and the Photography Regional - in addition to 'pop-ups' like at Art on Lark. That gave me the confidence to continue showing my photography elsewhere in the community." - Margo Singer, loyal member & local artist
"ACG is an organization with heart, generosity and bold ideas. It’s a steady presence during good times and difficult ones. ACG is not about merely filling exhibit space. It supports and welcomes a large, eclectic group of artists while dedicated to integrating art with audiences of all ages and backgrounds, beyond its physical walls. There’s hardly a more forward-thinking local organization." - Tina Lincer, Gala Committee volunteer & local artist
