Albany Center Gallery offers artist opportunities for ACG Members as well as non-members. Opportunities for artists to showcase their work arise throughout the year, for community events like Art on Lark and the Black Arts & Cultural Festival or pop-up exhibits at local businesses. We annually host a Member's Only Exhibition in December/January and are launching a Member & Friend exhibition this summer.

ACG's Annual Call for Art is a specific call to invite artists to submit their work for consideration in curated exhibitions in the ACG gallery space. The Annual Call for the 2018-2019 exhibition cycle ended on July 31, 2017. Submissions are being accepted on an ongoing basis for consideration for the 2020 exhibition cycle and beyond.

ACG accepts artwork submissions through an online submission portal called Submittable. A free account is required to submit. All current calls for art through ACG are listed on the Submittable site.

Call for Interns & Volunteers

Albany Center Gallery offers internship opportunities for college students and welcomes volunteers as well. If you are interested in contemporary art and have a passion for the regional art community, or are interested in non-profit management, Albany Center Gallery is a great fit for you! Individuals will experience what it’s like to work in a local, not-for-profit arts organization.

Internships at Albany Center Gallery are unpaid and intended for students who are looking to receive college credit toward their degree program. Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply. ACG will also consider individuals who are seeking an experiential learning opportunity and may not be looking for college credit.

ACG has a variety of volunteer opportunities based on your interests, expertise, and gallery needs. The monthly time commitment is flexible depending on how much time you'd like to commit and can be anywhere from 5 to 50 hours per month.

Here are a few of the ways you can get involved:
- Come to the gallery once or twice a week to help with day-to-day administrative tasks (filing, organizing, and gallery maintenance)
- Support ACG staff at opening receptions and pop-up exhibits (talking with visitors, running the bar, maintaining food offerings, manning the membership table, etc.)
- Be an event photographer for openings & pop-up exhibits
- Offer insight into business, finance, technology, grants or fundraising
- Be an ACG Ambassador (talking with the public about ACG and what we offer, encouraging people to join as members, or suggesting the opportunity to become a sponsor and support the arts)
- Apply to join a committee (Committees: Gala, Public Relations, Exhibits, Finance, Development/Membership)

To learn more and get involved, please contact Anna Wettergreen at awettergreen@albanycentergallery.org.

Membership

For the past 41 years, Albany Center Gallery has been a primary showcase for the Capital Region’s arts community. Now, after over 300 exhibitions (featuring the works of over 3,000 talented artists), the Gallery has entered an exciting new phase in its development.

Your support of the Gallery is vital to its existence and is always appreciated, whether you are an artist, a collector or art lover, or are simply interested in contributing to the quality of life of the community in which you live and work. Your support allows Albany Center Gallery to continue to provide visual artists living within a 100-mile radius of Albany with a platform to share their artistic vision with the community.

With all of the new and exciting changes that have occurred recently, the Gallery has attracted more visitors to our location, built new and lasting relationships with artists and forged new partnerships with other local and regional arts and cultural organizations.

Additionally, the Gallery has plans to expand its programming and outreach efforts in order to position itself not only as a continuing viable gallery space, but also as a contemporary arts center where the community will experience a bounty of artistic expressions in many forms, including increased youth art programs. However, to do so, we will continue to need your financial support.

With your support, Albany Center Gallery’s presence will continue to grow, and we will be positioned to maintain, and expand, our role in the Capital Region’s arts community for generations to come. Therefore, we urge you to consider becoming a member of the Gallery, or renew your membership when it becomes due this year.

Thank you in advance for your continued financial support of Albany Center Gallery and its mission.
