Belonging by Adam Fujita
The mural, "Belonging", is located within Quackenbush Square, Downtown Albany! This mural popped up over a weekend and brought a bright and welcoming message with it. "Adam’s blinding neon style work has been an exploration of protest and activism pushing social justice to the forefront of his themed work all the while bringing a nostalgic and whimsical vibe with it."
Mural artist Adam Fujita said, "With all the division and marginalization that has become commonplace in our society, I wanted to create an inclusive mural based on a phrase of belonging. I wanted to design signage that was bright and playful but that also has a profound meaning. The additional illustrations of the dripping heart, emojis and rose are commonplace in my work. The dripping hearts have been a staple of my work for years as well as emojis and the rose is of course the state flower of NY. My hope with this mural is that the viewer will feel invited to come up close to it and that the message will bring peace to the community."
Albany Center Gallery, Albany Barn and Albany Parking Authority brought this and several other murals to Downtown Albany in an effort to inspire, uplift and bring art to the community.
"Belonging" was completed in September 2022.
