"Back Home" by Sylvie Kantorovitz

"Back Home" by Sylvie Kantorovitz, completed in October 2017, is located along the corner of the Green-Hudson parking garage. The mural shows whimsical imaginary creatures marching out of the garage. In a spot where people rarely stick around, Kantorovitz, an author and illustrator of children's books, imagined what kinds of creatures would call the garage their home. Her aim was to bring a smile to visitors' faces; the piece brings imagination, whimsy, and fun to an otherwise blank space.

Albany Center Gallery, Albany Barn, and Albany Parking Authority brought this mural to Downtown Albany to not only add beauty, but also to inspire and uplift the community, and incite reflection on the meaning of the space.
