"In this piece, I explore the contrast between society’s urban footprint and the delicate beauty of the natural world, capturing both their fragility and coexistence. The woman’s face and bodice, cracked and falling away, symbolize the layers hidden beneath our surface—personal, environmental, and societal. As her form disintegrates, tree branches emerge, representing life’s deep-rooted connection to nature, while the city of Albany rises from within, reflecting how urban life often coexists with, yet sometimes overshadows, the natural world. The autumn setting, with its rich tones and transformative energy, parallels this unraveling, embodying both decay and renewal. This piece encourages viewers to reflect on the facades we wear and our connection to the environment around us."
