Join the Future 40 Club

As ACG plans for the next 40 years of showcasing and promoting Capital Region artists, we are taking stock in how we’ve grown. We have expanded programs beyond the gallery walls to vacant buildings, local businesses, surrounding cities and neighborhoods, as well as exterior walls on buildings in our Capital Walls Mural Program. In 2016/17, we exhibited over 500 artists and had more than 50,000 visitors to Capital Region events, more than any previous year. Our successes are the culmination of four decades of perseverance, hard work and commitment, and we would not have made it to our 40th anniversary without you.

Now this is also a time to look ahead and plan for another exciting 40 years from our new home in the Arcade Building at 488 Broadway. You are an important part of ACG’s past and future, and we invite you to join the Future 40 Club, a special group of artists, community leaders and other friends who have donated $40 or more in honor of our Future 40 effort. Each donation of $40 or more from now until December 31, 2017 will be MATCHED by members of the Albany Center Gallery Board of Directors up to $6,000. Simply put… your $40+ donation will become an $80+ investment in the region’s visual arts excellence.

And why is this effort so important? It’s no secret that funding is an ongoing struggle for ACG and nearly all art organizations, especially those that promote visual art. While many arts organizations are closing their doors or reducing programs, ACG is very fortunate to have an increased demand for its programs. That comes, however, with the need to deliver. To plan each exhibit’s outreach and promotion takes months in the best, most versatile and convenient space we can offer to the public. In order to become sustainable for another 40 years, we must invest in our future, expand staff and exhibit space, while focusing on outreach and increasing funding.

To invest in ACG’s future is also to support a brighter future of opportunity for our Capital Region artists. The greatest challenge they encounter is finding opportunities to exhibit and sell their work. Through our unique exhibits and satellite shows, artists of every career level are able to participate. Our programs are free and open to the public, so every member of our community is able to access visual art. Looking ahead, we aim to provide more opportunities to artists and programs in which the community can partake. We seek to draw visitors to events, inspire tomorrow’s creative leaders, support arts education for youth and provide fuel for artists to drive the engine of the creative economy.

Thank you so much for considering this special contribution. By joining the Future 40 Club, you will join company with those who blaze a bright path for regional artists, future creative professionals and community members who access our free programs.
