This workshop will use color and movement to play with creative energy. Students will have the opportunity to use simple movement practices as a tool for connecting with their creativity, and they'll be invited to notice how their creative energy moves through them. We will then bring that awareness alive on canvas by creating collage pieces that mix paint with hand drawings of inspiring images and/or words. The movement components of the class are inclusive to all levels of physical ability and students are encouraged to participate within their comfort zone. This is a space to have fun with the creative spark and create something beautiful.

About the Artist Mentor: Ashley Rutledge is a self taught visual artist who has been immersed in the creative arts since she was a child. She grew up dancing ballet, tap and jazz along with performing in local theater. In her teen years she was a professional actress in NYC and spent most of her time after college connecting with local musicians near her hometown in NJ. Visual art and collage have been a constant in the background, and she's excited to share how her creative process has been a helpful tool in self expression and healing. She worked with Root3d's open mic series at ACG in 2021 and is always looking for more creative outlets in the Capital Region.

All youth between the ages of 13-18 are invited to attend. The workshops are free, and there is limited space in order to foster a proactive learning environment. Registration is REQUIRED. No prior knowledge or experience in the arts nor topic of specific workshops is necessary. Please include a valid email with registration, as we will be reaching out to you for sharing logistics and waiver details.
