🎨 About the Workshop: What if you could turn a magazine page into a poem? In this creative, hands-on workshop, you'll explore new ways to express yourself using words and images that already exist. We’ll dive into blackout poetry, collage, and drawing over text to help you create something totally original and uniquely you.

Using old magazines, newspapers, and printed pages, you'll cut, remix, erase, and draw to build your own visual poems and layered art pieces. It’s all about experimenting, having fun, and finding your voice in unexpected places. Whether you love to write, make art, or just want to try something new, this is your chance to explore creativity with intention.

🎨 About the Artist Mentor: D. Colin is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and performer of Haitian descent whose work centers on creativity, healing, and cultural expression. With a background in English and Africana Studies, she brings a deep love for storytelling and visual expression into every space she facilitates. She is the author of two poetry collections, Dreaming in Kreyol and Said the Swing to the Hoop, and the playwright behind Simone: A One-Woman Show and Psalm 91: Releasing Religion. As a teaching artist and curator, D. Colin creates spaces that encourage participants to reflect, connect, and create with intention. Her poetry, visual art, and community-based workshops have been featured in galleries, publications, and performances across the U.S. and abroad.

The workshop is free, and there is limited space in order to foster a proactive learning environment. Registration is REQUIRED.
