8th Annual Members Show

"I would like to thank the Albany Center Gallery for allowing me the privilege to juror the 8th Annual Members Show. The work submitted to this exhibition presents an exciting view of the current talents residing in the region. As an Albany native, and someone who lives their life investigating visual experiences, this has been an absolute pleasure.
It is the artist alone who is solely entitled to judge their work. I am merely one point of view, with my own ways of understanding. There are certain factors imbedded in my processing of objects that I encounter, and these factors aid in an object’s ability to resonate with me. I’m intrigued by the artist’s decision making process - from the very beginning to the very end - and how those decisions affect my overall experience of their craft. I find myself pausing when I’m forced to investigate deeper into surface, content and intent. That pause has the potential to generate emotional enlightenment, no matter how jarring or contented it may be.
I would like to congratulate all of the artists for submitting their work. The commendable ability to subject your voracious creativity to critique will always provide you new perspective and potential. I would also like to congratulate the Juror Selects and Best in Show artists. Thank you for being intriguing and thank you for making me investigate."
