WHAT TO WEAR
Travel through time with us to 1930s-1950s
The theme of this year's Gala is 1930s - 1950s train station - think Newsies! Dress is to theme, creative cocktail, or semi-formal. Here are a few exciting ideas for WHAT TO WEAR at this year's event.
THE TIMES
Blend in with the popular magazines of the times and whip out the berets and wrist or even elbow length gloves. Not huge on dresses or suits? Pair an ironed blazer with a dazzling skirt. Instead of a suit, dress comfortably in pants and a button down. Feeling more casual? Throw on your favorite blouse and with long dress pants and a belt. Tie or no tie? Your choice!
A LITTLE EXTRA
You could try pair a long string of pearls with mid-length cotton dresses, or wide short-sleeves and cartwheel hats, with some shined kitten heeled shoes. Or hey, why not break out the tuxedos and adding a fedora to the outfit with some sturdy loafers or wing tipped dress shoes. Additionally, pick up a small chain or pocket watch to attach to your belt loops. With a handkerchief as a must have accessory, you can't go wrong!
DEFY THE STATUS QUO
Consider outfits with no sleeves, bold statement dresses, loose button-down shirts, patterned stockings, add feathers to a hat, add fringe or fake furs, or do your hair differently than usual! Generously accessorize!
MODERN TWIST
Old Train Station--but make it modern. Shift from the blazers and button downs, and tie in your personal favorite items into the outfit. Eyeing that dress you haven't gotten the chance to wear yet? Now is your chance!
The Art All About It! Gala welcomes guests to arrive in whatever is comfortable to them. We are excited to see your outfits!
