Spotlight now on couple who spotlighted local artists for decades

Since moving to Albany in the late 1980s, Attila Zalavary and his wife Kinga have made it their mission to support and highlight the local arts community through meticulous frame-making and regular exhibitions, made free for participating artists.

 

In recognition of their dedication, the two were named the winners of Albany Center Gallery’s 2023 Les Urbach Lifetime Achievement Award. They, along with the winners of the Mona Ruth Brickman Memorial Artist of the Year award, BoogieREZ, and Dr. Joel Spiro Community Impact award, Leola Edelin of Renaissance Albany Hotel, will be honored at the gallery’s gala on Saturday at the Scarlet Knife.

 

“It’s overwhelmingly beautiful to be recognized,” Zalavary said.
