Human Essence

Albany Center Gallery presents Human Essence from August 4 through August 28, 2015, with the opening on Friday, August 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This show features photographs by Michael P. Farrell, Stephen Honicki, and Brian Williams.
The three artists in Human Essence each start with a conventional photograph - a familiar, unassuming image. Artist Michael P. Farrell then places two images together to create new meaning out of the familiar, and challenges the viewer to reconsider the conventional.
Stephen Honicki is a visual storyteller who combines text with images to allow viewers to find their own interpretation of his dramatic interplays. Is it just a twist, or does the story change in relation to the viewer's own experience?
Brian Williams explores the overlooked details of the human body, fragmenting form and complementing skin tones with colored fabrics. His blend of the synthetic with the natural requires the viewer's full attention.
An opening reception for Human Essence will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 7, at Albany Center Gallery, 39 Columbia Street, Albany NY, 12207. The public is invited to attend.
